What a weekend!

The weather was beautiful so we took advantage of it and did a lot of work in the backyard. Both lawns needed mowing after the rain and the couple of warm days so we started off with that. Emma now has a sandbox which Dave built Sat. Took a lot of sand to fill it up (12 bags of 80#)... it is a big sandbox! lot of room to have friends over to play! We are starting to clear out the side yard. It was over grown and we never cleared it out after we moved in, and we have been just using it as a place to dump grass clipings. I cut out a good chunk of lilac suckers and started clearing out a dead bush. Dave transplanted a few suckers from the Quaking Aspen into the backyard. We are giving them a 50/50 chance of transplanting successfully. Once we get the side yard all cleared out we are going to seed it and place a brick path between the front and back yards. We are slowly working to getting the yard fenced and the deck done.

For those of you who have seen the backyard (and most I think saw before we even seeded it), it has come a long way! I am going to try to find pics from when we bought it and get some pics soon of what we have done.

A couple days ago, Emma took her first step up a step without holding onto anything! She has been able to do it by placing her hand on the wall and using pressure that way to help balance herself, but this time it was all in the legs!

She is starting to actually interact with her dolls now. She has a Cabbage Patch doll (birthday gift) that she was reading to yesterday when I came into her room. She has also started to put the doll in her cradle and cover it with a blanket. Most of the time, the doll ends up only half in, but she is getting the idea. I am sure that the roughness will go away with time. She might also have been trying to change the diaper the other day as well.
