Haircuts...

On a whim, Emma and I stopped by the salon we visited earlier in the summer. The gal we saw then came highly recommended and I was happy with what she did. I wanted to get Emma's hair trimmed and possibly cut mine. Since we are heading to Montana next week I was going to see if they could at least squeeze her in. The gal we saw last time was busy but a new gal was able to do Emma's right then. I did not know how good she was but I figured it would be hard to mess up a trim especially since I was watching.

I talked with her about some of the concerns I was starting to have with Emma's hair... with it being so fine, I thought maybe it was getting too long and she agreed. She said it was time to get it styled as well, which was in line with what I was thinking. She gave me suggestion on how much to cut off and then also suggested a length about 1/2 longer if the other was too short. We kept it longer but evened it out across the bottom. Until now it came to a V and now it is straight across.

After talking her with about Emma's hair for a bit I had some faith in her so I started talking to her about mine. I have been wanting to chop it again lately but have never been quite satisfied when I do. After Emma was done, she sat me down and got to work. She suggested a length just below the shoulders and I said that it could go shorter and she seemed thrilled with that. Now that it is said and done, I love it. One of the better cuts I think I have had. She wanted to do highlights as well but there was no way I could spend another $55 at this time.

Here is a pic of Emma's back after her hair had been dried.

what is orange and...

What is orange and moves around 2.83 miles and hour and can come to a complete stop when you least want it to? A bowling ball, that is what.

We went bowling with one of Emma's friends and her friend's grandparents. We had bumpers for the kids and a land without bumpers for us.

Emma has graduated to trying to actually put her fingers in the ball and throw it "properly." She did pretty good but after quite a few frames her arm got tired and the ball just stopped at the end of the alley just before the balls.

Not only did this happen once, but it happened three times! (over the course of two games)

Gosh, I have a few updates to do but they will have to wait. I did want to stop by and try to post a video in the mean time. We figurd out how to get the video from the video camera to the computer (well, we knew how, we just took the time to actually do it). So here is a 30 sec clip from her game a couple weeks ago. If you watch in 10 sec she (Green #5) connects with the puck.. It is behind the upright barrier but you can kind of see it (and hear it)!

Halloween was fun. Emma had a blast and the only Statue of Liberty out there. Well, we saw one other but she was an adult. Got lots of comments on her costume! We did the Trick or Treating around the businesses during the afternoon with Oma and PopPop and then went out with Daddy and PopPop when it got dark. Over all I think her bag weighed just over 5 lbs from those two events!

Her party was the next day and it went really well! We had invited 9 girls and 5 showed up. The others were 2 sets of siblings that had other things going on. We had rented 2 lanes at the bowling alley and treated each girl to a game. It was a hit and went really smoothly! Everyone had a blast and one set of parents commented that they may be stealing this idea for their daughter's party.

I will try to get some pictures up in a day or so. They are on the other computer which Emma is using right now.
